VANCE — — card not punched either way Dr Vance's card is in the rack and is clean. She was in the building; the visitor register has her escorting the state inspectors that morning and the day book has the Directorate making requests at 22:20, 22:45 and 01:00. She simply did not punch. Ruth Palliser punched out at 04:19, which is the same minute the register in the vestibule records O. Aldaine signing in, and the same minute the night watch log stops mid-entry, and the same time the wall clock in Records is stopped at. Four independent instruments in four rooms agree on one minute.
