Terms of use

Last updated 4 August 2026. These terms apply to adrenochrome.org and to the game hosted on it.

1. Who you are agreeing with

adrenochrome.org is an independently operated website and game. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean the operator of that site, and “you” means anyone using it, with or without an account. Using the site means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.

2. The game is fiction

ADRENOCHROME: The Halcyon Protocol is a work of fiction. The Halcyon Research Complex, its staff, its records, its programmes and everything documented inside the game are invented. Any resemblance to a real facility, organisation, programme or person is coincidental and unintended. Nothing in the game is a statement of fact, a medical claim, or an allegation about any real party.

The word in the title refers, within the story, to a colour designation for a lighting gel. The game does not endorse, promote or lend credence to conspiracy theories associated with that word elsewhere.

3. Age

The game contains psychological horror themes and is intended for players aged 16 and over. Accounts are not knowingly offered to anyone under 13. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, it is deleted along with its data.

4. Your account

  • You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for everything done through your account.
  • One person, one account. Do not create accounts to work around a suspension, inflate a leaderboard, or claim a free chapter more than once.
  • Your display name is public. Choose one that would not embarrass a stranger reading a leaderboard: no slurs, no harassment, no impersonation of us or of another player.
  • Tell us promptly through the contact form if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else.

5. What you may do

Play the game, write about it, stream it, record it, screenshot it, publish a walkthrough, and make videos of it — including monetised ones. You do not need our permission for any of that and we will not issue takedowns over it. Please do not paywall a full copy of the game's text or media as though it were your own work.

6. What you may not do

  • Interfere with, probe, overload or attempt to break the service, its API, or the servers behind it.
  • Automate play, submit fabricated results, tamper with saves, or otherwise place scores on a leaderboard that were not earned by playing.
  • Extract puzzle solutions or unreleased content from the server and republish them before release.
  • Scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for other people, or ignore robots.txt.
  • Resell, sublicense or redistribute purchased chapters or account access.

We may suspend or close an account that does any of these. Where a closure is not automatic we record a reason, and you can ask for it.

7. Purchases and refunds

  • The prologue and Chapter One are free and will remain free.
  • Paid content is licensed to you for personal use on your account. It is not sold to you as property and cannot be transferred.
  • Prices are shown before purchase, including currency. Taxes are added where required.
  • You may request a refund within 14 days of purchase, for any reason, through the contact form. Refunds are returned to the original payment method.
  • We do not refund a chapter more than once per account, and repeated buy-and-refund cycles may end in the account losing purchase access.
  • If a chapter is withdrawn after you bought it, you keep access to what you already own.

8. Advertising

Public pages carry advertising. It never appears inside a chapter, over a puzzle, or on top of a game control. Advertising is served through a shared ad system described in the privacy policy. We do not control the content of third-party ads; report anything inappropriate and we will remove that slot.

9. Availability

This is a small independent service. We aim to keep it up, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability, and maintenance will occasionally take it offline. Saves are stored server-side for signed-in accounts specifically so an outage does not cost you your progress. Guest progress lives only in your browser and can be lost by clearing site data — that is why the game repeatedly offers to move it to an account.

10. Changes to the game

Chapters may be edited after release to fix errors, improve accessibility or clarify a puzzle. We will not remove an ending you have already reached, and your recorded endings stay on your account.

11. Our content

The text, art, recordings, code and design of the game are ours. You may not sell them, train a commercial model on a bulk copy of them, or present them as your own. Playing, discussing, quoting and illustrating the game are all fine.

12. Liability

The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost progress, or for anything arising from your use of the site beyond the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

13. Ending your use

You can delete your account at any time from account settings. Deletion removes your saves, progress and personal data as described in the privacy policy; it does not refund purchases automatically, so ask for a refund first if you want one.

14. Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially, the version recorded against your account is updated and you are asked to accept the new one when you next sign in. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.

15. Contact

Everything comes through the contact form, including legal notices. There is no public email address; the form opens a tracked ticket so nothing is lost.
