Do I need one?

No. The Prologue and Chapter One are fully playable without an account, and your progress is kept in your browser.

An account does three things: your save follows you between devices, your achievements are recorded, and you can appear on the rankings if you choose to.

What we ask for

An email address, a password and a display name. That is the whole list. We do not ask for your real name, your date of birth, your phone number or anything else, and there is no way to add them.

Your display name is the only thing other players can ever see, and only if you opt into the rankings.

Verifying your email

After you register we send one message with a verification link. You can play immediately without clicking it; verification is needed only for password recovery and for appearing on the rankings.

If it has not arrived after a few minutes:

1. Check your spam or junk folder. The sender is noreply@adrenochrome.org.
2. Use Resend verification on the pending page. It can be used once every few minutes.
3. If it still does not arrive, your mail provider may be rejecting it. Tell us through the contact form and include the address you registered with.

Resetting a password

Use Forgot password on the sign-in page. If the address belongs to an account, a reset link is sent; it is valid for one hour and can be used once.

For your protection the page says the same thing whether or not the address is registered, so it cannot be used to find out who has an account here. That is deliberate and it is not a bug.

"Your password or email is wrong"

The sign-in error is identical for a wrong password and for an address that has never registered, for the same reason. If you are certain of both, the likeliest cause is a different address than you remember — try any others you use.

Changing your email or password

Account → Settings. Changing your password signs out every other session immediately; the one you are using stays signed in.

Deleting your account

Account → Settings → Delete account. Deletion is scheduled with a grace period and can be cancelled from the same page during it. After that it is irreversible, and it removes your save, achievements, ranking entries and the account itself. See your data and deleting your account for exactly what goes and what does not.
