Development log

What is being built next

Chapter Two, daily challenges, leaderboards and cooperative sessions, in that order

The cold sample vault of an abandoned facility, shelves of numbered card sleeves behind a heavy door.

This is a list of states, not a list of dates. A date given now would be a guess, and a guess published as a plan is just a way of being wrong in public later.

Chapter Two: Gel 114

Written. Not built. Chapter Two goes down to sub-level one and into the cold sample vault, and it is where the empty sleeve stops being a detail and becomes the subject. The three Chapter One endings carry different flags into it, and they open different routes rather than better ones.

Daily challenges

Designed. Not built. A single generated case each day, from a deterministic seed, so everybody who plays on the same day gets the same case and can compare how they worked it. Scored on the server. Streaks count.

Leaderboards and seasons

Designed. Not built. Boards will paginate live, fifteen rows at a time, and will show real positions rather than a top ten and a shrug. Seasons group daily challenges into runs with their own reward track.

Cooperative investigations

Designed. Not built. Two players in the same case at the same time, each holding evidence the other cannot see, having to describe it accurately to get anywhere. This one needs a real-time service behind it, which is why it is after the leaderboards rather than before.

The store

Visible. Nothing can be bought. The store lists what will be sold — later chapters, a supporter membership, cosmetic case-file skins — and every button in it is disabled. It will stay that way until payment is genuinely wired up and tested end to end. Nothing in this game is currently for sale, and the free chapters are not going behind a wall retrospectively.

Things that are done and will keep being done

Accessibility work is not a phase with an end. Every puzzle added from here has to have a non-colour and a non-audio route before it ships, every recording has to have a transcript, and every clip has to have a written description. That is a release requirement, not a stretch goal.
